Review – Into the woods – Bare Productions

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Bare Productions “Into the woods” is a spellbinding amateur production at a professional standard.”

Local Edinburgh amateur theatre company takes on Stephen Sondheim’s dark fairy-tale musical “into the woods”.

Performed along with a live band who are sensational and add another layer to this impressive production. The entire cast provides stunning vocals and together creates something magical.

Rebecca Drever, as “little red” is hilarious and with her enthusiastic energy and brilliant facial expressions and perfect vocals. Along with Harrison Owens as “jack” the pair make a great comedic duo with high energy and brilliant comedic timing.

Felicity Halfpenny as “The witch” was the stand-out performance for me. Her gorgeous and powerful vocals and stage presence demanded your attention. She makes an incredible villainess.

Although the set was minimal, this really allows the cast to shine and use the space fully.

Bare Productions “Into the woods” is a spellbinding amateur production at a professional standard. It is a prime example of the incredible standard local theatre companies are capable of.

Into the woods by Bare Productions is on at Paradise in Augustine’s until 10th August and is sold out.
