Review – Why am I (Still) Like This

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“she tackles such a difficult subject beautifully. “

Nicole Nadler (High heels and heavy suitcases) brings her one woman show Why Am I (Still) Like This a sequel to her last show (why am I like this) to Edinburgh fringe festival after her success of 2023.

Nicole talks about the highs and lows of her late diagnosis of ADHD and growing up asking “why am I like this” as well as how her life has changed since her diagnosis and not all for the better.

Using her natural storytelling ability, humour and brutal honesty she highlights the stark reality of living with undiagnosed ADHD and dealing with the symptoms, in particular the intrusive thoughts and “inner” voice.

Nicole uses clever lighting cues and sound effects along with a mirror on stage to represent her inner voice talking to her and this is powerful, chilling and at times uncomfortable to watch but she tackles such a difficult subject beautifully.

Why am I (still) like this is a relatable, moving, honest look into nicoles life and highlights some of the experiences and difficulties neurodivergent people go through in a powerful and beautiful production.

On until 24th August at the space at Surgeons Hall at 6.10pm catch Why Am I Still Like This now.
