Review – Mhairi Black- Politics Isn’t For Me

Rating: 5 out of 5.

” her delivery of the show is gripping, funny, and relatable. “

Mhairi Black, the uk’s youngest elected now ex-MP, makes her Edinburgh fringe debut with politics isn’t for me. A peek behind the curtain on both Mhairi’s life and politics in the UK.

From the beginning, we get a look at what Mhairi was like growing up and a look into her dark sense of humour. She shares her background and the stark contrast to a majority of those in parliament upbringings.

Self branded as a “Ned talk” instead of “ted talk” the first half she tells jokes and stories about her upbringing and her public image and explains some of her headlines from her side

Mhairi’s natural charisma shines on stage, and her delivery of the show is gripping, funny, and relatable.

The second Half of the show is a peak behind the curtain at Westminster and Politics as she introduces the audience to parts unseen by the public and tells stories of her time both good and bad serving as a Scottish MP.

A poignant quote from Mhairi that made an impact on everyone in the audience “ The statement Politics isn’t for me is why the bastards get away with it”

This and her stories really paint a stark reality of politics in Scotland and the low impact Scottish politicians have in Westminster.

Mhairi Black – Politics Isn’t For Me is on at Gilded Balloon at the museum but is completely sold out for this run.
