Review – Divas from Stage to Screen

“a dazzling display of tight harmonies, powerhouse vocals, and ingenious mashups,”

Divas from Stage to Screen” by BBD Productions is a captivating showcase featuring four sensational “Divas” and a talented live band. The show highlights the iconic songs of legendary Divas such as Pink, Judy Garland, Kelly Clarkson, and Eva Cassidy, offering a diverse and electrifying musical experience.

One of the unique aspects of the show is that the featured “Divas” rotate, providing a different set list for each performance based on the solo repertoire of each artist. The particular lineup for the show I attended included the outstanding talents of Dannielle Logan, Jenny Kinnear, Ellie Florence, and Halla Eaglesham, accompanied by the skilled musicians Rachel Blaquière on keys, Millie Donnachie on guitar, Emily McDougall on bass, and Emily Mowat on drums.

The performance itself was a dazzling display of tight harmonies, powerhouse vocals, and ingenious mashups, delivering hit after hit in a mesmerizing 60-minute showcase. Each “Diva” complemented the others beautifully, showcasing their strengths while coming together to create spine-tingling moments.

A few standout moments that left a lasting impression on me were the breathtaking Anastasia melody, which showcased the collective vocal prowess of all four Divas, and the soulful, polished renditions of “Fever” and “Get Happy Days.”

The production’s simple yet elegant set design added to the overall cabaret ambience, and I appreciated how the presence of the live band on stage allowed them to shine alongside the performers. It was a show filled with incredible vocal performances, impressive musical arrangements, and a genuine sense of camaraderie among the talented artists on stage.
