Review – Sunshine on Leith: Captivate Theatre

Rating: 5 out of 5.

exudes a genuine spirit of community and enthusiasm from both the cast and the band,

The Scottish favourite “Sunshine on Leith” is one of the offerings from Captivate Theatre at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show is performed with a live onstage band, which adds energy, charisma, and talent from the moment the performers step on stage.

The story follows Davie and Ali’s journey as they return home from war and try to adjust to life, all set to the soundtrack of The Proclaimers.

The cast’s performance improved consistently throughout the production, with each member delivering an inspiring performance. The principal cast members showcased professional-standard vocals and performances, and they were brilliantly supported by the ensemble.

The performance exudes a genuine spirit of community and enthusiasm from both the cast and the band, creating a truly infectious energy on stage. It’s a production filled with heartfelt emotions, soulful performances, and a strong sense of Scottish camaraderie.

This production is what the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is all about, Giving an amateur theatre company their moment to show what professionalism and high standards they are capable of.

Catch Captivate Theatre perform “Sunshine on Leith” at Assembly Rooms until 25th August at 5.35pm
