“Mean Girls” Broadway’s hit musical from an award-winning creative team, including writer Tina Fey and composer Jeff Richmond, comes to the west end, London at the Savoy Theatre
Based on the 2004 hit film, “mean girls”. The musical focuses on Cady Heron, who transfers to high school after being homeschooled in Africa. At school, she befriends outsiders Janis and Damian, who persuade her to infiltrate the “Plastics,” a clique of popular girls Gretchen Wieners, Karen Smith, and “queen bee” Regina George.
Filled with killer songs, fun choreography, and all the classic iconic scenes and lines, this is a must-see for any fans of the film or fans of modern musical theatre. The ensemble is full of infectious energy and beaming with talent, and with the use of screens, the set is modern and, at times, simple but effective.
Charlie Burn as “Cady Heron” along with Elena Sky as “Janis” and Freddie Clements as “Damian” make a formidable trio, With incredible vocals and perfect comedic timing. Freddie was a stand-out performer with his slick vocals and charisma. He was a pleasure to watch cover the role of “Damian”.
“The Plastics” casting is perfect in every way, with Georgina Castle as “Regina”, Elèna Gyasi as “Gretchen”, and Grace Mount as “Karen”. The trio embodies “The Plastics” spectacularly with Georgina’s vocals that are powerful and slick in “Someone Gets Hurt” With her stunning costume and choreography, this number is sexy and well-polished. Along with Elèna as “Gretchen”, who is “fetch” as well as endearing with gorgeous vocals, and Grace as “Karen”, whose “sexy” was a highlight of the show. Her incredible vocals, charisma, and comedic timing shine throughout.
“Mean Girls” the musical is a fun musical with a good message of inclusion and to “be a good person”. With fabulous costumes, killer songs, and infectious choreography, it’s a must-see.
