⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Spectacular, magical and bursting with heart – a show that truly earns its name.”
Having just seen the **world premiere in Bristol**, I can honestly say that *The Greatest Showman* the Musical lives up to its name in every possible way.
This really is **the greatest show**. From the very first moment, the production sweeps you up into a world of spectacle, emotion and pure theatre magic. It takes everything audiences loved about the film and elevates it beautifully for the stage, adding extra layers to the story that feel thoughtful and meaningful.
The new songs slot seamlessly into the score, strengthening character arcs and emotional beats rather than distracting from them. And truly — I need this cast album immediately.
Performances
Oliver Tompsett is excellent as P.T. Barnum, bringing the perfect mix of stubborn ambition, passion and underlying heart. His Barnum feels driven and flawed, but ultimately very human. He commands the stage effortlessly while still allowing space for the story to breathe.
Samantha Barks is simply breathtaking as Charity Barnum. Performing *Tightrope* from a height is visually stunning and emotionally gripping, and her vocals are nothing short of phenomenal. It’s one of those moments that leaves the entire audience holding its breath.
The chemistry between Tompsett and Barks is genuinely beautiful. Their relationship feels warm, grounded and emotionally rich, giving the heart of the show real weight and sincerity.
Lorna Courtney is a standout as Anne Wheeler — sassy, sexy and powerful. The addition of her new song *Skybound* is a fantastic introduction to her character and immediately establishes her strength and presence. Her pairing with Ben Joyce’s Phillip Carlyle is electric, and their *Rewrite the Stars* scene is breathtaking and awe‑inspiring — easily one of the most memorable moments of the night.
Ben Joyce brings charm and heart to Carlyle, while Vajèn van den Bosch delivers a show‑stopping *Never Enough* as Jenny Lind, with some of the clearest and purest vocals you could hope to hear live.
Malinda Parris, alongside the circus performers and ensemble, is wonderful. Every performer brings an infectious sense of life, joy and passion to the stage. The ensemble work adds constant energy and keeps the show feeling alive at every turn.
Staging & Design
The set design and lighting are truly something to behold. This production is a stunning example of theatre magic — bold, immersive and visually spectacular.
Scene changes are slick and seamless, creating a continuous flow that keeps the audience completely engaged without ever feeling overcrowded.
A brilliant touch is the use of stickers across phones to prevent photos or videos during the performance. Rather than detracting from the experience, it does the opposite, allowing you to be fully present and completely engrossed in the spectacle unfolding in front of you.

Overall
My only negative comment? I didn’t want it to end. I already want to see it again — and again — and bring friends and family so they can experience it too. *The Greatest Showman* the Musical is dazzling, emotional and incredibly uplifting. With powerhouse performances, unforgettable visuals and so much heart, this show feels destined to become a theatrical phenomenon. Seeing its world premiere truly felt special.
⭐ Verdict
**A spectacular and magical stage adaptation that expands beautifully on the original film. Stunning performances, breathtaking visuals and a huge amount of heart make this world‑premiere production unforgettable. Quite simply — the greatest show.** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
