FUCCBOIS: LIVE IN CONCERT – Review – Edinburgh Fringe Festival

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Assembly Studios 2, George Square
5th–31st August (not 12, 19, 26) — 5.05pm (60 minutes)

📝 Overview

From award‑winning writer Bridie Connell and director Richard Carroll, FUCCBOIS: LIVE IN CONCERT explodes onto the stage as a full‑throttle, comedy‑fuelled boyband spectacle — loud, chaotic, and gloriously ridiculous in all the best ways. This show knows exactly what it’s doing and leans into every boyband trope with razor‑sharp satire, drag‑king swagger, and comedic precision.

🎤 The Show

The show follows fictional boyband The Fuccbois on their farewell tour after years of chart‑topping success. What unfolds is a parody that hits every cliché of boyband culture — the toxic masculinity, the gaslighting, the over‑manufactured personas — and flips them into something clever, self‑aware, and hilariously unhinged. It’s a love letter and a takedown all at once, and it’s delivered with absolute confidence.

The songs are catchy, packed with outrageous lyrics, and performed with tight choreography that would make any real boyband sweat. The drag‑kings bring impressive vocals, comedic timing, and a level of stage presence that makes it genuinely hard to believe they aren’t a real group. Every number lands, every joke hits, and every moment feels crafted with intention.

I left the theatre singing the songs, laughing at the absurdity, and genuinely ready to join the Fuccbois fanclub. It’s that infectious.

👥 Performances

This cast are comedic powerhouses. They perform with such craftsmanship, charisma, and boyband‑level swagger that the line between parody and reality blurs in the best possible way. Every second of their performance is comedic genius — sharp, bold, and delivered with absolute commitment.

You wouldn’t expect a show about a boyband to be feminist, but FUCCBOIS is exactly that: a clever, intelligent piece of feminist theatre disguised as a chaotic pop concert. It exposes the problematic behaviours baked into boyband culture while celebrating the fangirls who loved them — and it does so with humour, heart, and a tight choreography.

⭐ Final Thoughts

FUCCBOIS: LIVE IN CONCERT is an absolute triumph — a riotous, feminist, drag‑king boyband parody that delivers laugh after laugh without ever losing its intelligence. It’s for the girls who grew up obsessed with boybands, the fangirls who screamed at concerts, and anyone craving a hilarious, high‑energy Fringe experience. This show is a new obsession waiting to happen.
